In her latter years, Mrs. Ford suffered the usual infirmities of advanced age. In 1987, she had bypass surgery. Twenty years later, her slowed down. Because of this, she missed Lady Bird Johnson's 2007 funeral. On July 8, 2011, Betty Ford passed away from natural causes.
I hope that Phil's death doesn't drain Laura of that life force she had. That life force which made her cavort with disco boys and have dance all night and affairs. I hope that at the end of it all, Laura is not lost to see this here grief or anger. I hope that a measure of satisfaction and security, replaces all for their kids, which weighs on her today.
